A Day Spent at Grandma's
I went over to my mother's home today to try and help out with watching the grandbabies.  Caleb and Maryanne are fun to watch, and Braxton loves to play with them, so it all worked out!  I was able to snag some photos, which was really fun to do since there was quite a bit of natural light.  I always think to myself, "phew, light."  At my house, it's hard to find.  I don't have giant windows that light up my home when its sunny outside.  I have been doing almost everything these days with my camera set to manual, and using my 35 mm lens.  I am falling in love with both settings.  It's fun to have control over how the photo looks. My mother always has "things" in canisters.  And she just so happen to have these cranberries out.  Freeze dried whole cranberries.  I thought they were AWESOME, not to mention all the jars.

Toddlers, Babies & Markers

Babies, Toddlers & Markers!
Every time I get the opportunity to photograph babies and toddlers I take it!  They are so fun and adorable!  My biggest challenge with these photos, is once again lighting issues.  In my home, we don't get a lot of natural light from ANYWHERE.  Taking CLEAR, CRISP, and GREAT photos becomes VERY difficult.  I usually have to crank up the ISO which ends up giving me a grainy image.  I also had trouble getting the colors to "pop", but that also has to do with poor indoor lighting.  All of these photos were shot with my camera on Manual.
These photos were just SOME of the SEVERAL that I took that looked the best, due to the lighting issues.

Food.

Food.
Over the break I tried to photograph a lot of food.  It was hard to get an "artistic" shot of food.  I realized that good lighting is HUGE when it comes to food.  Of course, good lighting is good ALL the time:)  IT was a fun challenge over the break, since we did eat a lot of food.

Barns.

Barns.
Tuesday, my mother and I drove up to Spokane to pick Ricky's parents up from the airport.  So I brought my camera along for the ride and thought I could snag some pictures of old barns...which I love.  I was also in a car that was going 60 mph, so getting photos with good clarity was a big challenge.  Ricky's mother was not a fan of me taking pictures, so I had to sneak one in of her with Braxton!  haha....More pictures to come sooooon!

Action Shots And Still Shots

This last week I have really practiced using my camera in more appropriate settings.  I have found that almost whenever I shoot Braxton, I have to put the camera in "sports" mode, so I can catch him quickly without a lot of blur.  I also, spent some time outside take still photos of scenery and adjusting to "natural" light.  This was quite the challenge, I felt like I could never get the "shot" I wanted and had a hard time adjusting to the natural settings.  I am learning a lot, but I felt at a standstill for a little bit.  Below are some of the photos I took this last week,  experimenting with action shots, and natural lighting.  Enjoy!
